Where does this word Mukbang come from?

It is an abbreviation for eating broadcast and its name came from the popularity of a TV show that is filmed while eating food on Afreeca TV*. In South Korea, the word is already registered in the dictionary as a neologism.

In English, it is 'Mukbang', and in Japanese it is 'Moppan (Moppan)' or 'Mokupan (Mokupan)', and in Chinese it is written as 'tsupo (吃播)'.

Afreeca TV is a one-person media platform in Korea, it is similar to Youtube . As an internet personal broadcasting service operated by Afreeca TV, it is a personal media that anyone can easily broadcast live anytime, anywhere with a personal PC or mobile device (smartphone, tablet computer, etc.) without special technology, equipment, or cost.. It is a system that anyone can broadcast with various materials because it can broadcast not only webcam broadcasting but also desktop broadcasting that can broadcast the screen on the PC monitor.
